About this deal

This book, like the others before, is perfect for the middle grade audience it is intended for, but any adult reader won’t be the least bit bored if they happen to take a peek between the covers, too. Loki is the series protagonist - the most chaotic god of Norse mythology, who has been banished to live on earth as a normal child who also has to go to school. outrageously funny […] Sharp wit, ethical dilemmas, sly mythological references and oodles of doodles are a recipe for pure reading pleasure. Overall my kids, husband and I all agreed that the story is a fairly original twist on traditional mythology with a good moral lesson thrown in. LOKI A Bad God's Guide to Being Good has you chuckling at every page turn full of witty remarks and hilarious characters.

Loki might not have shown any moral improvement (yet) but Odin has given him another chance to prove himself worthy of A. For any kid transfixed by Norse mythology […] it’s silly, full of cheeky jokes and mischief, and peopled by believable, fallible characters who just happen to be gods. Explore our pick of the best children's books in February 2022 – from thrilling escape rooms to the surprising adventures of a crisp packet, there's something for every reader to enjoy! Wry, witty and very funny diary-style story packed with doodles and comic strips about the frustration trickster god Lok. She's the author of the bestselling LOKI: A BAD GOD's GUIDE series, about the norse god Loki as a mortal child. He has a whole month to redeem himself or else he will be sent to Hel wherein he will find an eternity of torture by the fangs of venomous snakes.

Another fabulously funny read from Louie Stowell, this time with a very clever exploration of good/evil and empathy! I've overheard my kids telling their friends about it, saying that if they like books by Rick Riordan or Cressida Cowell then they'll also enjoy this one.Loki is a character that we just can’t get enough of and in this quirky interpretation, he’s a huge bundle of fun.

The book itself is filled with several opportunities to apply cross curricular learning, especially in regard to Loki’s relationships with other characters. It’s a perfect middle grade book, full of laughter and lessons that slip in when you least expect them. As he records his lies THE TRUTH in his magical (judgemental) diary, it becomes clear Loki hasn’t a clue how to tell good from evil, trust from tricks, or friends from enemies. It's funny, great illustrations, contains important life lessons and it's great to see lots of positive representations. Norse mythology is deftly woven in, with enough explanations (and diagrams) that it would be understandable to someone completely new to it, but with plenty of references that will make those who do understand them chuckle.Despite his contemptuous attitude towards mortal beings, readers will be rooting for him to make the right choices, as he learns about guilt, loyalty and friendship. If you are under 16, please obtain your parent/guardian’s permission before submitting or ask your parent/guardian to submit on your behalf. The only things I think parents would object to is some rude humor (poo, farts), but it isn't gratuitous, and the fact that it mentions a couple times that Loki once transformed into a mare and birthed an eight legged horse. This side-splitting tale, which contains an abundance of references to Norse mythology, is hugely entertaining from start to finish.

If you have a kid who enjoyed Diary of a Wimpy Kid - and also enjoys reading about ancient mythology - check this one out!At the end of the book my class gave a spontaneous round of applause which they've never done before!
