Mysteriously this has virtually identical specs to the standard stylus (same elliptical profile as later AT95E stylus, same tracking force at 2g) yet does manage to deliver improvements. They are not genuine Audio Technica Styli, and I have come across a few instances where people have been disappointed by LP gear styli; for this reason I personally never recommend them. It features a fine quality elliptical stylus that literally gets deeper into the groove – pulling out more music. I would not describe its sound as big and expansive, but it generally produces a neat sound that spans the full frequency spectrum without over-stepping the mark in any department. I found the AT95E to have a relaxed and laid-back presentation whereas the Ortofon 2M Red has a brighter and more analytical presentation. We could never get the AT95E, even a couple of weeks old, to track without distortion towards the spindle/label area.
