About this deal

My only criticism would be that London looks a lot cleaner in this story than how I remember it when I lived there!

In a PE lesson you could link it to the fire of London and do lots of movements that could represent a fire spreading. At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills. Not only is it informative about the features of the incredible city, but the illustrations allow the reader to create vivid images in their head. Join them on a whirlwind tour of the sights, including the Tower of London, the London Eye and Buckingham Palace! When they get to London Grandma is so tired that she falls asleep so Katie and her brother go off and explore all the sights of London.

For History you could link this book to the fire of London and discuss the main events and how the fire started. It follows the adventures of Katie and her younger brother Jack who take a tour around London on the back of a golden lion from Trafalgar Square. The Lion is wonderfully large and golden and has a fabulous flowing mane, and all of the sights are instantly recognisable and very detailed. At Trafalgar Square they meet a talking stone lion, and he takes them on a wonderful tour of the city taking in such sights as The Tower of London, Buckingham Palace and the London Eye! We also use them to help detect unauthorized access or activity that violate our terms of service, as well as to analyze site traffic and performance for our own site improvement efforts.

On their travels with the lion they visit St Paul's Cathedral, The Tower of London, Tower Bridge and some of the sights along the South Bank like The Globe Theatre. The illustrations aren't that thrilling and I'm not crazy about the stupid lion coming to life, but the whirlwind tour is nice. The trio take off around London, flying around with the reindeer to deliver all of the presents before the time runs out. A wonderful introduction for young readers to delights of the Tower, Buckingham Palace and a host of London landmarks. From Peter and the Wolf, to Scheherazade, James has worked internationally with many different orchestras and musicians, creating illustrations in time to music. And since we always try to spend a weekend in London at christmas with kids it will be sure to bring back lots of memories. James’s Katie picture book series has been making art an adventure for children worldwide for 25 years.

Our team is made up of book lovers who are dedicated to sourcing and providing the best books for kids.I'd like to think that if I had visited London as a child, I would have read this book beforehand to get myself hyped up! Flo has it in her class at school and is excited to go to London to see the sites and to see the lion.

It depicts all the famous London sights such as Trafalgar Square, St Paul's' Cathedral,The Tower of London, Tower Bridge, the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament. These are just some of the fascinating details that Blue Badge Tourist Guide Katie Wignall reveals in this absorbing guide to the secrets of London hidden in plain sight.

This review is on behalf of my twin almost-three-year-old associates, whose cousin, now 12 , passed on four books that she thinks she has grown out of. When Grandma gets tired they stop a while in Trafalgar Square, and whilst Grandma rests on a bench Katie and her brother find themselves going on a magical adventure with one of the Trafalgar Square lions! Summary: A lovely introduction to some of the very famous sights in London, perfect for sharing with children during the Queen's Jubilee year! Written and illustrated by James Mayhew, Katie's adventures in this book will capture your imagination as Katie and her brother Jack are shown the sights of London by a stone lion who comes alive and befriends them. At Trafalgar Square they meet a talking stone lion, and he takes them on a wonderful tour of the city.
