I especially enjoyed the narration by Barrie Kreinik with all of the accents (I always preface this by saying that as an American, I honestly don't know what a "proper" English accent or Irish accent sounds like - I just know they sound good) so I enjoyed listening a bit more than reading. With Odran’s defeat at the Battle of the Dark Portal, his quest to rule over Talamh and Breen has stalled – for now. With all the turmoil around us, we realize there can be peace, love, and happiness when we unite for the greater good! While I love rereading her books, it’s nice that these recaps are there for when I don’t feel like taking the time to reread them before the next installment comes out. With less meandering banter and romance between characters and a faster pace, the same story could have been accomplished in a single book and I would have absolutely loved it.

Every character has to make choices, some easy some tough, and each choice changes the directory of their lives. The reader could read between the lines and see the hidden actions that indicated the love, but there was definitely no sweeping romance. Her grandfather, the dark god Odran, has been defeated in his attempt to rule over Talamh, and over Breen--for now. Breen is an incredible MC and heroine and just a good example of a human being with a heart to admire, as well as kickass with the personal growth.

I love her relationship with her best friend, Marco, who has also grown tremendously from the first book to this one. It also relied way too heavily on this magical "I just know things" train of thought vomit to explain the world and events.However, one thing I have to mention is what I found to be an odd lack of chemistry between Breen and her love interest. This book is not worth it… I thought the end of the Divergent series was the worst ending to a trilogy I’ve ever beheld but there is finally a series to top all that awful, this one. I have loved so many main characters throughout my life, but I think Breen may have just beat them all out. It’s slow and the “choices” that Breen makes are not very dramatic and not very interesting quite frankly.
