A lot of Lords wanted Moira for the fortune and lands she would inherit but one lord was more persistent that the rest. In addition, the Fae had an interest in Moira, so Moira became a pawn in a struggle she had no idea was going on. A final complication came as Owain fell in love with Moira. Each choice Moira would make would create a major conflict, but what would be best for Moira? Well, this book was a mix of themes, specifically historical romance, medieval times and PNR. It was tenuous in my opinion. I liked the heroine a little because she was clueless and innocent, but I wish she had been a little more observant and involved. She was passive and reactive, but in all fairness, that was the behavior of a well groomed “lady”. I liked Moira with Owen but it felt more like teenagers than an adult passion. I also was conflicted about Maeve and her actions as well as Iris’ actions. Before discussing the story, I’d like to first say how much I love the cover and interior graphics in this book. I believe Laila did it all herself, apart from the original artwork used. Amazing!

Both regions were formed by volcanic activity, and both pictures were taken in daylight.This novel is a fantasy tale with a strong romance sub-plot. It’s also very New Adult, showing Moira Rochmond’s journey of discovery about her heritage and the forbidden love between Owain and herself. I love this couple, they have quite contrary personalities but balance each other so well. The emotional conflict was nicely written and moving; I really cared to see them resolve it and believed in their bond.

What I liked about this book, are Moira and Owain. Other than the slight insta-love after the full moon, I liked them. Moira started as a girl who craves for freedom but instead of being sympathetic towards her, I felt irritated by her whining. The first time I appreciated her was when I she showed her intelligence during her lecture session. Outside, under the fat moon, crossing the three-lane highway to the motel, carrying paper bags full of fragrant cholesterol in a variety of formats, Dylan reminded himself of some of the many things for which he should be thankful. Good health. Nice teeth. Great hair. Youth. He was twenty-nine. He possessed a measure of artistic talent and had work that he found both meaningful and enjoyable. Although he was in no danger of getting rich, he sold his paintings often enough to cover expenses and to bank a little money every month. He had no disfiguring facial scars, no persistent fungus problem, no troublesome evil twin, no spells of amnesia from which he awoke with bloody hands, no inflamed hangnails. Moira is a character who I eventually grew to admire and like. I enjoyed the way the author developed her character. What was especially enjoyable was that she didn't fit a stereotypical heroine. This provided and refreshing concept and read.
