The key differentiator is supposed to be the blue LED light for whitening support. But I haven't really noticed any marked difference yet. Probably, it will show over a period of time (I have used it only for a week so far). I’ve always associated powerful UV lights with professional teeth whitening procedures, but I was skeptical at how effective an LED light would be in whitening my teeth.

As for the blue light LED, well that’s where I’m not fully convinced. The blue light LED is what really differentiates this device from all the other sonic toothbrushes on the market and I wish I could say that I notice anything happening from that function, but I don’t yet. This may just be something that comes to light the longer I use it, but during my testing for this review I can’t say that I felt the toothbrush was whitening my teeth any better because of the blue light. According to Dr. Nichols, the FDA regulates teeth whitening products on a case-by-case basis, depending on the formulation and use. However, most teeth whitening products are classified as cosmetic, and therefore may not be subject to FDA approval.
