Description

Thrustmaster TH8A Shifter is compatible with the Thrustmaster T150, T150 Pro, T300, T500 and T-GT racing wheels on PS3/PS4 with the included DIN cable. We are often asked if you can use Thrustmaster or Logitech wheels, pedals, shifters or other accessories in combination with Fanatec hardware. In general the devices of different vendors are not compatible to each other. Therefore, you cannot directly connect products from different companies to each other or at least this is not supported. In-runner motors are one of the most standard for of motors in use. They refer to a series of magnets that rotate on the inside of a set of stator coils. This design allows the rotor to spin incredibly fast, but this comes at the expense of lower torque capabilities. If you are looking for the outright cheapest direct drive wheel, then you will be looking at one of the newer direct drive racing wheels from Fanatec or MOZA Racing. There’s a solution, but it’s not cheap. These wheels are actually part of a system – you can get other steering wheels and more advanced pedalboards, the T3PA and the fab T3PA Pro. There’s even a manual gearbox if you want a proper old-school driving feel.

There is also the Logitech Pro Racing Wheel which has an Xbox version. This racing wheel is incredibly impressive, especially with its Trueforce technology. It sits in between the CSL DD and the DD1 in terms of price and performance. Winner – Fanatec CSL DD With an out-runner motor, such as the ones used in Fanatec’s Podium wheel bases, the rotor is located on the outside of the stator. This allows out-runner motors to produce more torque at lower RPM.The other option is the Fanatec Podium F1 racing wheel. This is a much more premium direct drive wheel. It includes the DD1 wheel base which can produce up to 20Nm of peak torque. This is over double the strength of the GT DD Pro. In comparison, other racing wheels utilise smaller motors with a series of gears or belts which link the motor to the steering wheel. With all that being said, here are all of the ways the Moza Racing R9 is superior to the Fanatec CSL DD and GT DD Pro: Fanatec seems to be taking things to the next level for sim racers by uniting real-life, professional Motorsport operated by SRO with its virtual counterpart. Two vibration motors integrated with the grips, controllable through wheel Tuning Menu (SHO) or by game through Fanatec SDK

We can split Fanatec’s success as a sim hardware manufacturer into two notable attributes integrated into all the brand’s products; high-quality, ultra-realistic designs and ease of use. While many other companies manufacture great sim racing gear, what sets Fanatec apart from the crowd is the simplicity of its hardware thanks to its ecosystem, which allows all its products to be compatible with each other. This means you can combine different steering wheels with different wheelbases or pedals and add accessories like a shifter or a handbrake on various platforms – PC, PlayStation 4/5, and Xbox One – without breaking a sweat. When it comes to steering wheels, Thrustmaster is definitely the cheaper option. Although they do offer a lot of intermediate racing wheels, they also have a couple of entry level options for beginner sim racers. They offer wheels for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, and so they are ideal for sim racers on all of the major platforms. Fanatec produces some of the best-licensed wheel rims on the market, yet they come at a price. SimuCube boasts much more customisability, and a wider range of steering wheels to choose from. Direct Drive technology: Outrunner-type motor engineered for sim racing, offering exceptional efficiency, dynamics, and detail Finally, the Simucube 2 Ultimate is the strongest wheel base that Simucube offer, and one of the strongest on the market today. It produces a whopping 32Nm of peak torque, which is higher than you would ever want to run consistently. I haven’t listed every Fanatec wheel thanks to our list of all-time favourite Fanatec wheels here. Once you’ve chosen your wheelbase and your wheel, you’ll need to choose a pedal set, unless, of course, your Fanatec setup came with pedals in the bundle. The increase in performance that is found in direct drive racing wheels provides a much more immersive sim racing experience in comparison to the lower-powered belt or gear driven sim racing wheels.
