The light can also spin full circle on the mount, which means you can arrange it horizontally and mount it to aerobars too. You can get a solid aluminium bar mount if you want ultimate stability, and these are now widely available for around a tenner. Output The light flashes blue when you're in race mode and green when you're in standard, and you just hold it down for a few seconds when you turn it on to change between the two. Many of our lights feature Overdrive Race Mode. While it's a great feature, it can occasionally cause a little confusion. If your light is missing its flashing modes, or your light only has two modes, then you have probably activated this feature. True, Lezyne has gone some way to avoid this with its Race Mode, where you just have two settings, but the setting for the 'dipped' offering always seems to be too low. The Lezyne Lite Drive 1000XL bicycle light has a brightness of 1000 lumens by means of 2 powerful and efficient LEDs. The headlight is equipped with a MOR (Maximum Optical Reflection) lens, which ensures that the light beam is evenly distributed. Because you don't have a centred beam, other road users will be less disturbed by your beam. Furthermore, the MOR lens ensures improved visibility from the sides. Lezyne produced its Lite Drive 1000XL headlight in CNC milled aluminium. This makes the lamp compact, strong, durable and the cooling fins in the aluminum housing are able to properly dissipate its heat.

The Lite Drive 1000XL has 8 different settings, including 4 continuous and 4 flashing modes. The most remarkable is the unique 1000 lumens strong 'daytime flash', which ensures good visibility during the day. Thanks to the different modes, you can adjust your brightness to your surroundings. When switched on, the memory function activates the last mode you used before turning it off. So you'll never have to search for your favourite mode again. For me personally, I wouldn't choose any light that scrolls through flashing as it just annoys me, but I certainly can't fault its quality and beam for the money. Verdict The beam shape isn't anything particularly special – it's basically round, and a little narrower than some – but it's throwing out plenty of light for the money, and you can deal with more or less anything in Overdrive mode.

The single top-mounted power switch changes colour to let you know how much power is remaining, while the side fins help to keep it cool. In practice, I found that plugging the light into a laptop meant I had to bend it awkwardly or dangle it vulnerably over the edge of a desk whilst inserting into a wall mounted version meant the second USB port (which I wanted to use for the front beam) was covered. Connect Smart 1000XL A powerful, multi-purpose front light with up to 1000 lumens of output. Its machined aluminium body is lightweight, super rugged and heat dissipating. It features eight output modes, with a class-leading 1000 lumen Daytime Flash mode. With its MOR (Maximum Optical Reflection) lens, light output is optimized and evenly dispersed. And its versatile strap securely mounts to variety of bar shapes and sizes.

The shop provides all other high-end accessories and parts for LED-lights as well. A strap or mount for example, or batteries, adapters, USB- cables and so on. This equipment helps you replace broken parts of your LED-light, enables you to mount any Lezyne LED-light to your bike frame or helmet and provides everything you need to get the best out of your Lezyne LED-light.Cons: Could do with better mode grouping; I prefer a proper handlebar clamp to keep the light secure

Lezyne says, "The most advanced front and rear combination of cycling lights available. The two lights come wirelessly paired, allowing the front LED to wirelessly turn on or off the taillight at the same time. The modes of the two lights can be customized when paired with our free Lezyne LED Ally phone app. During a ride, toggling through the modes of the front light will also wirelessly change the modes of the taillight.

USB rechargeable battery complete with charging cable means you do not have to buy batteries again. The KTV Pro 75 puts out a very decent 75 lumens in its daytime flash mode and its large lens offers an impressive 270 degrees of visibility. The app also gives you a battery readout for each light, but it would be nice if this feature was updated so the information is a little bigger, and more granular: getting useful battery information is a big plus for the app, but the current implementation could be improved. Switch to Economy, though, and it just isn't bright enough to see where you're going. If it was the 500lm Blast combined with Overdrive it would be spot on, and you'd be able to use it like the high/dipped beam of the Ravemen PR1600. Mount

I tend to use both lights in "race mode" after dark, but in the daytime in the normal setup so I can use the pulse mode for additional visibility as needed. This is a sinusoidal "flash" that doesn't blow people's eyeballs out. I get migraines from sudden strobing flashes, so I do not use the daytime flash modes unless I believe my life is in danger. At dusk, I begin on the low-power femto/economy mode until it gets dark enough, then put it in race mode. There are eight settings in total, which gives you plenty of versatility for balancing battery life against output, and I wouldn't real cull any of them – well, maybe the Pulse – but I would definitely change the way you access them to make the light more user-friendly. Boost is still plenty bright enough to see where you are going on wide main roads with cats-eyes and the like, plus the Enduro will, too, at a push. At a steady output of 20 lumens it will last up to four hours, while in the 10-lumen flash option it lasted 25 hours. The light has seven settings and two different modes. The first mode allows you access to all seven settings, which are blast (650 lumens), enduro (450lu), economy (150lu), femto (15lu), flash (150lu), pulse (150lu) and overdrive (1100lu). Race mode lets you toggle just between overdrive and economy. Mode memory remembers whether you're in race mode or standard whenever you next turn the light on, and which setting you were last using – which is useful if you favour one setting in most situations.

The Overdrive setting gave me 80 minutes at full brightness – compared with the claimed 90 minutes – before the beam started to weaken, though it didn’t cut out entirely until over the 90-minute mark.
