Description

In general, compact 12-inch notebooks are not entrenched in the lower ranges of the market in the business segment. An exception is the Latitude-5000 series from Dell, since Dell also offers the more affordable Latitudes in the smaller form factor. Our current test unit, the Dell Latitude 5290, is the latest sprout of these mid-range Latitudes. We are particularly interested in the question of what comprises the manufacturer had to make compared to the more expensive subnotebooks. We therefore compare the Latitude with the Lenovo ThinkPad X280, the HP EliteBook 830 G5, and the Dell Latitude 7280. Of course the Latitude 5280predecessor is also included in our comparison. SupportAssist, previously called My Dell, provides system updates, detects issues and sends you alerts based on your device, which makes solving and preventing problems easier than ever. This application gives you access to everything you need to take the guesswork out of maintaining PCs and tablets. For more information and installation instructions see the following link:

It took the Latitude 13 seconds to transfer 4.97GB of files, or 391.5 MBps. Only the ThinkPad X1 Yoga was faster (508.9 MBps), while the Surface Pro (339 MBps) and the average (283.2 MBps) were slower. Use the CD command to navigate through the folders to the *.inf driver location. Use dir as necessary to see the contents of each folder. See ( Figure 6 [English Only]).

Matched against a variety of other tablets, the Latitude tied the only other "Kaby Lake R" contender, the Editors' Choice Lenovo Miix 520 , with identical scores of 3,436 in our PCMark 8 productivity benchmark, well above the 3,000 that we consider excellent for office apps. The two quad-cores also finished in a dead heat in our Cinebench CPU measurement and Handbrake video-editing exercise, comfortably ahead of the dual-core Surface Pro and HP Spectre x2. The Dell and Surface Pro tied for honors in our Adobe Photoshop image-editing workload. Secondly, the screen will be afflicted by smudge marks. Despite claims of anti-smudge technology, the Latitude’s glass attracts fingerprints – so be prepared to wipe down your device regularly. Specifications

Both the 5-megapixel front-facing (for selfies and video chats) and 8-megapixel rear-facing (for snapshots) cameras capture above-averagely bright and detailed images, in addition to the former's face recognition with Windows Hello. Side-facing speakers pump out reasonably loud and clear audio, predictably free of deep bass but accurate and pleasant for streaming entertainment. All other products will be delivered via the fastest available method (excluding bank holidays and weekends) and generally within 3-5 days, depending on customer location.

To preserve battery life, ensure that the tip is not pressed when the pen is not in use. For example: When storing the pen, make sure the pen is secure so that the tip is not accidentally pressed. Pressing the tip is equivalent to writing and this drains the battery. Terms Apply. Promotion ends 3 December 2023. Items are subject to availability. Max 5 units per customer. The advantages include for example, the good keyboard and the robust case. The Latitude also has VGA, a connection that is probably still appreciated by some users in the business sector, since there are probably still many VGA projectors around. Furthermore, the Latitude always runs very quietly during idle, while still offering an above-average CPU performance. The battery life is good, and the speakers are also not bad for a small business device. With two RAM slots and up to 32 GB of working memory, the Latitude is also expandable. The Latitude’s claim to hardware fame is its 8th-generation Intel Core i5 processor, which helped it achieve excellent scores in our benchmark tests as you’ll see shortly. Less exciting is its 8GB of DDR3 memory – that’s only just enough RAM to keep the Latitude from hiccupping during heavy, multi-tab, multi-program usage. With its integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics, the Latitude ran Dirt 3 at 68 frames per second. That's higher than both the average (66 fps) and the frame rate from the ThinkPad X1 Yoga (64 fps), but the Latitude still won't run more intense titles like Far Cry 5.Even with the cool stand, though, it's not as artfully designed as the Microsoft Surface Pro. And if you want the latest processor, you'll need to wait for that one to be refreshed. If you prefer a convertible 2-in-1 to a detachable, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga is the way to go. Its battery life is the same, and while its screen isn't as bright, it shows off more color. Make sure you buy the keyboard at the same time as the tablet itself, however, as you may end up getting stung for more than you expected. When bought alongside the Latitude, the travel keyboard cost 96 (reduced from 147, we might add) but when bought separately it has a whopping list price of 193 - almost double the price of Microsoft's TypeCover keyboard. Dell Latitude 5290 review: Display The pen does not have a power off option. If the tip or side buttons have not been pressed for 10 minutes, the pen goes to sleep mode where the power consumption is lower. To switch the pen to active mode again, press the tip or any side button. The rear 3200 x 1800 shooter isn't as good with color; a photo I took of my desk toys made my Captain America Funko Pop's blue costume appear far brighter and deeper than it looks in real life.
