About this deal

First manufactured and launched in the UK in 2002, The Pink Stuff has garnered a cult following over the years with users consistently rating it highly and singing its praises on social media platforms. The Pink Stuff entered the Australian market only recently, in 2021, and is currently only available to buy online. It has a pleasant if unexciting citrus scent, and is pleasingly cheap. Given how useful it is, it’s a little frustrating that it doesn’t come in bigger bottles, especially when you consider the work other cleaning product brands are doing to reduce single-use plastics. But for an easy-to-use, cheap and effective kitchen cleaner, it’s hard to beat. The surface sprays from UK-based clearing company Smol score points on a number of eco-friendly fronts. Instead of being sold in single-use plastic bottles, Smol sprays arrive as empty reusable bottles, with tablets that you then dissolve in warm water to mix the spray solutions yourself. The starter kit contains three reusable bottles and one tablet of each of its sprays – bathroom, multi-surface, and glass and mirror. Refill tablets can then be bought as required and sent directly to your front door.

Our experts also noted that it cleaned the hob perfectly, leaving “a streak-free shine”. Just be sure to do a small patch test inside the oven before use as The Pink Stuff is mildly abrasive, so it could create small scratches on the surface. Can you use The Pink Stuff on carpets? Soda crystals and bicarbonate of soda are not the same thing, and you should not mix these two products up, especially when cooking. Despite going through the wash after a very muddy walk, my son's white runners still looked pretty grubby. It’s very straightforward to make a bicarb paste. All you need is some water, bicarbonate of soda, a pot and a spoon.I applied a fair amount of The Pink Stuff onto the grotty pan and left it for a good 15 minutes to work its magic. Returning to the task with a green scourer (I wasn't too worried about scratching with this sturdy pan), I scrubbed the pan for a good five minutes before cleaning off the residue with a clean, wet cloth. Touted as an all-round cream cleaner on an array of common household surfaces, The Pink Stuff is a mild abrasive that is supposedly "gentle on surfaces but tough on stains". Although, if you plan on doing a lot of cleaning with bicarb you should consider investing in a larger tub, or a more specialised bicarbonate of soda product. The only downside is that it does contain several strong chemicals and should be used with caution to avoid any irritation to the skin. The unit has two sinks, both with identical areas of concern. On the left-hand side sink, I applied my homemade bicarb paste and on the right-hand side sink, I applied The Pink Stuff. For both, I used a soft cloth and rinsed the paste residue off with a clean, wet tea towel.

It is this high alkaline reading that makes soda crystals inedible, whereas bicarbonate of soda’s lower pH reading means that it can be used during the cooking process. We’ll admit that buying cleaning products isn’t something most people find thrilling, but if there was ever a sponge to get excited about, it would be the Scrub Daddy. These beloved household sponges are as good at scrubbing as they are at bringing a smile to your face. The Pink Stuff enjoys almost cult-like status among cleaning fanatics (we do exist!) and for good reason. This cleaning paste can be used all over the home and garden, cleaning pots, pans, BBQs, sinks, showers, stovetops, tiles and more. Simply dab a damp cloth or sponge directly into the tub, rub into the surface, rinse off and polish. It can even get rid of stains and built-up grime that have been stubbornly refusing to budge for years. You then leave the paste on the board for a period of time, then clean it off and repeat the process on the other side of the chopping board. My builder husband has been renovating our kitchen, which has required the temporary removal of our kitchen sink. While the cream-coloured porcelain of the sink isn't dirty or stained, there was a small accumulation of mildew around the hole where the tap goes and also along the edge, where the unit connects to the wall. But don’t forget you don’t actually have to make a bicarbonate of soda paste to use it for cleaning, it can also be used in non-paste form. In terms of its performance, the A-Ben-A-Qui paste is definitely a satisfactory Pink Stuff dupe. The differences ultimately come down to some ingredient-based preferences. The Pink Stuff contains perfume and acid red 52 for scent and color, as well as two texture additives. Those who are wary about scent and dyes should consider A-Ben-A-Qui. That said, one of the soaps in A-Ben-A-Qui is sodium tallowate, which is typically derived from animal fat, which may disappoint some consumers, while The Pink Stuff is vegan. Or, you could buy some bicarbonate of soda from leading brands, like that of Dri-Pak or Arm and Hammer.
