They have been developing their drop-stitch (SCE) technology and now they have updated their new line of boards with the second generation of our industry-leading SCE technology. Thanks to this technology, the board now has a more robust core with a higher thread density (14000/㎡) to endure higher pressure. Thus, it is stronger, stiffer, and more responsive.

There has to be some kind of pay off for a board that costs this cheap, and that comes in the form of the construction. The board has a single layer of PVC, which makes it incredibly light (8kg), but this means it can’t inflate to higher pressures. We tested the 11ft Tourer, which would be a perfect 1st time beginner board for most people. As we say in our full review, although it’s called ‘Tourer’, it’s not a touring board by design and its shape is suited for a beginner looking for an all rounder to get started on. Key specs – Total weight: 11kg; Length: 385cm; Width: 76cm; Height: 12cm; Air pressure: 20-25psi; Volume: 280L; How much can it carry:180kg; Accessories: Pump, bag, leash, paddle, fins and waterproof phone holder. I’ve chosen the Aquaplanet Pace because it’s a little bit different in terms of shape, which I really like. Whilst I’d still class it as a beginner board, it lends itself to better progression because the width is a bit narrower than most beginner boards. The pointer, narrower shape means the board will cut through the water and glide much better than rounded, wide boards. The construction of this board is what you’d expect for something in this price range. The high density drop stitch construction will help give the board rigidity at high pressure, and the double layered rail protection is a good idea – we have a lot of sharp stones and shells on many of our UK beaches.I actually recommend this paddle board to both beginners and advanced paddlers since it’s sturdy enough to practice on or to take it to the extremes Tour the world with this multi-purpose paddle board Apart from the Tahe, which is made from almost indestructible thermoformed plastic, the inflatables on this list are manufactured with pretty much exactly the same materials. Like what I’ve already said a hundred times, the Goosehill Sailor Touring board is very stable. And even though it is a fast paddle board, it still feels quite sturdy when tried in the water. Aside from that, it has a width of 32” which makes it really easy to balance and navigate. The Goosehill Sailor features an extra layer of lamination that the company calls Super Construction Enhancement Technology, which gives additional strength to the single dropstitch layer without much extra weight. That means this all-rounder works for everyone: it’s light enough for a child to carry, stable and easy to manoeuvre, and solidly supports up to 200kg in weight. If you want something to get into touring that glides really well, their 12’6 Cruiseair is a great option that I’d still put within the ‘budget paddle boards’ category.

If budget is less of an issue, you might like to read our article about the best beginner paddleboards. Best budget SUP’s – 7 cheap inflatables & 1 hard board Wave Tourer When fully inflated, this board maintains its structural integrity and stability, making it ideal for beginners. With the Goosehill 12 ‘6, you don’t have to worry about the speed since it has a pointed nose that makes the board quite fast. Conclusion: Goosehill Touring 12’6 Goosehill Sailor Touring Board Many beginner paddle board sets come with everything you need to get started: a pump, a paddle, a bag, a fin and a leash for safety. Paddles can be adjustable, but should be about 15cm to 30cm taller than you. Some iSUPs also come with drybags and a seat to convert into a kayak-style contraption, and others feature a built-in action camera holder. An ankle leash and personal flotation device are key safety equipment for any paddle boarder, while waterproof lights are necessary if you’ll be hitting the water at night. Key Features of the Goosehill Inflatable SUP

Remember if you want to compromise on price, there will also be some compromise on quality and performance. However, the boards seem very well made and lightweight enough to easily carry. The construction features drop stitch, reinforced rails and a double stringer, but this is pretty much the minimum you would expect for any inflatable board worth its salt. More expensive boards like Red Paddle have a high-density drop stitch construction, which means the board can be inflated to a higher PSI to stay rigid. Compared to SCE first generation, coupled with NST sealing, it significantly increases the stiffness of the board, e xtends service life, and further optimizes its glide performance. On top of this, we have developed an ultra-light inflatable board: stronger, lighter, and faster. NST: 5CM Strong Seal to Hold the Board Together Again, since the Goosehill Sailor Touring does not come with a SUP kayak seat, the paddle does not come with an extra blade as well. But as it is, I think the paddle is amazing and it can cut through the water easily, so beginners won’t have a hard time using it as well. Pump What’s more, it boasts cargo carrying areas at both the front and rear, while the additional length in the nose means it stays perfectly balanced even when loaded up with a dry bag or a picnic at the front.

I pushed this budget paddleboard to its weight limit: Bestway SUP

Unlike the Bluefin or Sandbanks boards, the JP doesn’t have many reinforcement features, suggesting the board will probably flex a bit for the bigger, heavier riders out there. So it’s important for this board to pumped up fully, otherwise it might feel a bit like a bouncy castle. Their Cruise SUP is a great all round board, ideal for beginners and those who want to enjoy paddle boarding without spending money on all the accessories. I honestly believe that Goosehill is one of the most underrated iSUP manufacturers at the moment. Not only because of the quality of their paddle boards like the Goosehill Sailor Touring inflatable paddle board; but also because of the amazing service they offer to all types of paddling enthusiasts out there. Key specs – Total weight: 17kg; Length: 265cm; Width: 75cm; Height: 10cm; Air pressure: 18psi; Volume: 161L; How much can it carry: 95kg; Accessories: Pump, bag, leash and fins. As seen in this list, many of the cheaper paddle boards come with warranties that are equal to or better than more expensive boards. This seriously reduces the risk of buying ‘cheap’, and should give you the confidence you are buying a well made board that will last a good amount of time.

Now you might be wondering, “Tom, who is this paddle board for?”. Well, I’m pleased to tell you that anyone can use this board! From beginners to advanced, this high-quality touring SUP is perfect for anyone who wants stability and speed when paddling. You can go slow when you’re just starting out but you can also go fast when you want to take it to the next level! The shape of a budget paddle board will be pretty basic but will be totally perfect for beginners and those who want to occasionally get on the water. You can’t expect a high-performance board at this price range because the brand can’t spend much time/money in research and development. When doing research for this article, the warranty was probably the biggest factor in adding a board to the list or not. There are some great looking budget paddle boards out there, but if the manufacturer doesn’t offer any warranty then please avoid them!
