Far from simply mocking Mormonism, it celebrates the human need for myths to make sense of the world, even if quite a few Mormon myths get a proper kicking: "I belieeeeve," one Mormon character croons in the show, "that in 1978 God changed his mind about black people! During one scene, Butters' father can be seen reading a newspaper with a front-page story about a historic health care bill passing, a reference to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which was passed and signed the same week the South Park episode first aired. They have been described as both nihilists and libertarians, suggesting that to make fun of everything is to believe in nothing (or everything).

I received this book as a graduation gift, and decided at that point that I'd save it for some time in college when things started to pile up and become unpleasant. Given their impatience with simplistic absolutes, it is unsurprising that the pair are no fans of certain prominent fellow atheists. The episode includes other themes, including the lack of interest in reading among American youths, and also mocks the idea that a book alone can inspire someone into committing violent crimes.Randy (his father) concludes that they must be religious fanatics attempting to brainwash Stan, and heads over to confront Mr. Barbra Streisand is reported to have attended the show, despite being portrayed in South Park as a demented robot who emits toxic gas from her nipples.

With one episode, there is a renewed sense of hope that season fourteen will live up to the expectations set before it. Butters believes them because after reading The Catcher in the Rye, he feels as though he has been entering into altered states of consciousness that make him want to kill others, only to find that his intended targets have long been deceased. In that film, which made fun of warmongering conservatives and self-righteous celebrity liberals alike, Penn in puppet form was held up for special ridicule.

Stan's anger does not upset anyone in the Mormon family other than Gary, who confronts Stan and the other boys the next day, pointing out that he believes his religion does not need to be factually true, but it still supports good family values and helping the poor. He also praised the vomiting jokes and said he could not remember the last time he laughed so hard during a South Park episode.

Much to their annoyance, however, while readers are not as disgusted by the new book, they nonetheless perceive it as even more profound and continue making their own interpretations. South Park continues to be one of the best loved and most intensely controversial shows on television. In the 15 years South Park has been on cable TV, it has been accused of being too conservative, too liberal, too amoral, too moral, too sophisticated and too crude. As I mentioned, I was sort of disappointed, as it was simply screen shots from random episodes (very few of which I had seen) with quotes from the characters. The four boys are convinced that the book will be a failure and publicly expose Butters as a fraud over the first book. The fourth grade students of South Park Elementary are assigned to read The Catcher in the Rye, and are excited when Mr. They fit Parker with antlers to disguise her as a moose, before abandoning her in the woods during hunting season. If you are a huge fan like me, this book was like going down memory lane with all the best quotes and yet it was teaching me a lesson. The Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs" received generally positive reviews, with many commentators praising the episode's themes of the over-analysis of works of culture.
