If any of Nintendo's first-party mascots is as well-known as its mustachioed plumber, it's the noble sword-and-shield adventurer Link. But there are definitely charms to Skyward Sword regardless, especially the relationship between Link and Zelda and some incredible dungeon design.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo Switch) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo Switch)

The original that started it all, The Legend of Zelda can be found in the NES collection with your Switch Online service. It can be difficult at times, but Nintendo also offers a special version save file that starts you with all of the equipment, just to help you along.Bound by destiny yet separated by mysterious forces, childhood friends Link and Zelda become tangled in a legendary conflict spanning the surface and sky. Add a new dimension to your exploration with Ascend, which gives Link the ability to pass through solid objects above him.

Hence probably A Link to the Past for 2D Zelda and Ocarina of Time for 3D Zelda so A Link to the Past overall given I wouldn't recommend NSO Expansion Pack in its current state.

A follow-up to Hyrule Warriors, Age of Calamity was declared a companion story (of sorts) to Breath of the Wild set in the same era. Hunt wildlife, pick fruits and vegetables, or raid enemy camps for food to sustain Link through his adventures. Wilforce Interesting; I chose it because it was the most non-linear - you could enter any dungeon as long as you had some rupees to rent what you needed to get in! If you have an insatiable appetite for exploration and a boatload of curiosity, Breath of the Wild is sure to get its hookshot in you and pull you into the series.

Since Nintendo's online service for the Switch was and continues to be seen by some as a controversial business move, adding more into the package to sweeten the deal makes sense, especially when speed and lag can't be fixed outright. It has open world exploration, a battle with the series’ main villain, seven clearly defined and unique temples and an all-powerful musical instrument. Obviously, Nintendo Switch Online (NSO) isn't a game, but we'd be remiss not to mention all of the classic NES and SNES games that come from being a member of this service. This year marks the 35th anniversary of beloved franchise The Legend of Zelda, and there's plenty to do to celebrate such a great milestone, including playing some of the franchise's best titles on the Nintendo Switch.

For someone that doesn’t play many games, I’d say a more approachable title like the remakes of Skyward Sword or Link’s Awakening on Switch. You'll find yourself diving from one dungeon to another, eagerly figuring out puzzles and uncovering the mystery of the Wind Fish Egg. In Breath of the Wild, Link awakens to discover he's been asleep for 100 years after suffering a near-death defeat from Calamity Ganon. I said the original at first, but I also kind of interpreted the question a specific way that maybe wasn’t intended.

If you're only going to play one Zelda game on the Nintendo Switch, it really ought to be Breath of the Wild. This version also has a lovely figurine-inspired look that gives everything an adorable plasticine sheen. Among them will be people, possibly family and friends of yours, who want to know why everyone's so worked up, and — with your help — we're here to offer advice on how to hook them on the series. johnedwin Adventure of Link actually was my first Zelda game and it’s still one of my favorites, but I do understand why it’s hard to recommend as somebody’s introduction to Zelda.
