Izzo's treatise interesting and useful, mainly because it identifies principles of which I am already aware and try to practice in my daily life. All change begins at the grassroots level, when one person has an idea, and then talks with a neighbor, friend, colleague, coworker, etc. I greatly respect Family Life, it was a great resource for me in my role as a single father and still is for distributing articles on fatherhood to my students. I picked up this book off my shelf thinking that I would read it so I could impart some wisdom to my adult sons. The "journey" that Beth goes on despite there being a undercurrent of emotion and sadness, there is still some joy and laughter to be had.
